  1. When is the Indonesia Council Open Conference (ICOC) 2025 held?
    The ICOC 2025 is held from Monday 7 July to Thursday 10 July 2025. 
    A postgraduate event will be held on Monday 7 July.
     
  2. What is the exact location of the conference?
    The ICOC 2025 is held at Melbourne Connect, The University of Melbourne, Parkville campus.

  3. What is the format of the conference?
    The conference will be held in-person only.

  4. What are the key dates?
    Call for Papers closes: 17 November 2024
    Notification of acceptance: end of January 2025
    Deadline for confirmation of acceptance/speaker registration: 28 February 2025
    Attendee registration: opens April 2025, close June 2025
    Postgraduate event: 7 July 2025
    Conference: 8-10 July 2025 

  5. How can I participate?
    We invite abstract submissions from varied disciplines that reflect on the conference themes and questions.

    Individual paper abstracts are welcome, but we strongly encourage the submission of joint proposals for organised panels and roundtables. Please consider gender balance and including junior and senior researchers in all submissions, as well as practitioners where possible. We also encourage you to consider including speakers from different disciplines.

  6. I am a postgraduate student, can I participate?
    The ICOC 2025 will include a postgraduate event on Monday 7 July 2025 (details tbc), hosted by The University of Melbourne Indonesia Forum.

    The event is open to all postgraduate students. Postgraduates wishing to attend this event, are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in the conference as well.

    The Indonesia Council (IC) is offering two competitive bursaries for postgraduate members to attend ICOC 2025. Please see this website for more information.

  7. Is there a conference registration fee?
    There is no conference registration fee for ICOC 2025.
    You are responsible for your own travel, accommodation, insurances, and all other expenses.

  8. How do I let you know about any requirements I have (i.e. dietary, accessibility)
    You can inform us when you register for the conference (please see key dates above).

  9. How much speaking time will I be allocated?
    The chair of your panel will inform you of the speaking time. In general, you should expect to speak for approximately 15 minutes when you are presenting a paper. Please note the time you are allocated is the same per paper. It is not based on number of speakers. A paper authored by one person will get as much speaking time as one with two, or more, co-authors. 

  10. I need a Letter of Invitation. How do I get one?
    When you register as a speaker for ICOC, there will be a tickbox on the form for this purpose. Please ensure you tick this box. Letters will be sent as soon as possible after speaker registration closes. 

  11. What are the Terms and Conditions for participating in the ICOC 2025?
    During the paper submission process you will be asked to accept the Terms and Conditions. These include that:

    • You accept that the details of your submission will be shared with conference organisers for the purpose of paper/panel/roundtable selection;
    • The ICOC 2025 organising committee reserves the right to make changes to the program where necessary;
    • By attending the ICOC 2025, you consent to your image/video/audio being taken and used at the discretion of the conference organisers. If you do not wish for your image to be used, you must notify the conference organisers.
    • The views expressed by any event attendee, are not necessarily those of the Indonesia Council or The University of Melbourne. All attendees and speakers are solely responsible for the content of their presentations. 
    • All participants are expected to behave in ways that promote a supportive, inclusive and effective environment. This means adhering to standards set by the University of Melbourne including but not limited to the University’s Student Conduct Policy and Student Academic Integrity Policy, and modelling the behaviours outlined in the Student Charter. It is your responsibility to ensure that all content you share is respectful, inclusive and polite, as outlined in the above policies. Racist, sexist, bullying, and discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated in any format.
    • Conference attendance and participation is at your own risk. The Indonesia Council and The University of Melbourne shall not be held liable for personal accidents or losses, or damage to private property of registered conference delegates, speakers and others in attendance at the ICOC 2025.
